Practical Markdown was written in Markdown and published from a single source.

Writing environment: The manuscript was written in Markdown using VS Code and stored in a Git repository.

Website: The content is served as a documentation website using Grav CMS with the Helios theme.

Book production: EPUB and PDF editions are produced using Pandoc 3.9 with Typst as the PDF engine. A Python preprocessor strips CMS-specific shortcodes and injects structural headings before assembly.

Diagrams: Mermaid diagrams are rendered to SVG (EPUB) and PNG (PDF) at build time using the Mermaid CLI.

Typeface:

The build pipeline for this book is open for inspection in the same repository as the content.
